751.13 - TRANSPORTATION OF OPEN ENROLLMENT STUDENTS
The School District Transportation Program is designed to transport school district resident children to and from their home residence to the School District of Auburndale Schools. The School District is not responsible for and does not provide for the transportation of any open enrollment student pick ups or drop offs outside of the School District boundaries. The parent(s)/guardian(s) of nonresident open enrollment pupils will be responsible for transportation of the pupil to and from district schools. If space is available, and remains available, on district buses used for transporting resident pupils, application may be made for pickup at a regular stop within the district. This should in no way be construed as a requirement that a pickup be directed at a resident family’s drive without their approval. Students will be picked up at a location agreed to by all parties. The School District will cooperate with parents of open enrollment students who wish to arrange services with the school transportation provider to place their children on school district routes. In these special situations, the following requirements must be satisfied.
1. Allowing the transportation provider to provide services outside the school district boundaries will not subject any students to any additional dangers, deviation from an existing route or additional mileage.
2. Parents requesting transportation shall personally contact the transportation provider.
3. Space for the student/s must be available on the particular school bus routed closest to pick up and drop off.
4. The transportation provider has the right to reject any request for any reason.
5. The School District retains the final right to deny any request initially or cancel the open enrollment student’s ridership at any time for any reason.
6. Determination to transport students will not have any impact on School District transportation costs.
