751.12 - SPECIAL TRANSPORTATION WAIVER
The School District Transportation Program is designed to transport children to and from their home residence to the School District of Auburndale schools. All students who live a minimum of one half (1/2) mile from the school of attendance shall be eligible for school-provided transportation. The home address of each child shall determine the child’s eligibility and the designated pick up and departure point for transportation. Parents of eligible students are allowed to designate a pick up point, other than their home address, under the following parameters: the designated pick up/departure point must remain on the same bus route as the original pick up/departure point, the designated point remains a minimum distance of one half (1/2) mile from the school of attendance. Students so designated are expected to remain at the designated point each day school is in session. Parents who request transportation from a designation other than a home address prior to the beginning of a school term may make such a request directly to the district’s bus service or to the District Office. Requests made after the beginning of a school term must be made to the District Administrator. Parents requesting modification from this policy must make their request in writing to the transportation provider and the District Administrator for consideration.The School District and transportation provider will be conscientious in determining the acceptance or rejection of transportation waiver requests. All requests will be decided based on student safety, Wisconsin Laws, student need, available bus space, current bus routes, length of possible extra route time, driving distance, and specifically the impact that granting such a request would have on transportation costs.
Note that emergency requests involving a family crisis situation, which require an immediate transportation change, may be approved directly through the transportation provider. Transferring from one bus to another for emergency reasons will not require a written request and may be approved by the school administration or designee.
