731.3 - IDENTIFICATION BADGES
The School District of Auburndale School Board recognizes its responsibility to protect the safety of its students and staff. All district employees and long term or accepted regularly scheduled substitute teachers are required to visibly wear a district issued identification badge while carrying out their employment duties for the district. The District will supply these badges along with a lanyard and clip to display these badges on their person while in the building, school grounds, and as directed by the school administration on any student field trips. While driving district vehicles, employees may display their badges in a manner in which they are visible to passengers.
All visitors/volunteers and any contracted service worker that enters the school property are required to check in at the main office of each school building to obtain a visitor’s badge. When visitors/volunteers and contracted workers are leaving, they must return the badge to the main office. An identification badge is to be worn in such a manner that it can easily be observed and read.
All employees will receive an initial photo identification badge, clip and lanyard at no cost. No alterations may be made to the badge. Badges will be replaced as necessary due to wear from normal use, to make the photo current, or for changes in employment status.
Building administrators will be required to maintain an adequate supply of visitor badges.
Building administrators will collect badges from all non-returning staff at the end of their contracted work period, unless circumstances warrant an employee keeping a badge for a specific purpose, i.e., summer school employment, etc. Old badges will not be worn after new badges are issued at the beginning of each school year.
Lost, stolen, altered, or damaged identification badges must be reported to an immediate supervisor and district office staff for replacement. Employees will pay the cost of $5.00 for replacing lost badges, except in circumstances when the badge was lost while performing the individual’s duties as a staff member.
