522.5 - POLITICAL ACTIVITIES IN THE SCHOOLS
Political activity, including distribution or posting of political campaign literature is limited in the School District of Auburndale buildings and on school grounds. The distribution of campaign literature and any signs is limited to outside the school buildings and the school offices. No unattended posted campaign signs or campaign posters are allowed to be posted in the school buildings or on school property. No campaign announcements or visits with students are allowed in the school buildings. Campaigning outside the school building, outside group sponsored candidate debates, campaign buttons, and attended campaign materials are permitted.Where discussions with students about political issues and/or candidates for any political office occur as a part of the instructional program, school personnel must include considerations of both sides so as to provide students the opportunity to do their own thinking and decision making. For this reason, school personnel are encouraged to provide the opportunity or invite speakers from more than one party or from both sides of an issue to share their views.
