School District of Auburndale

422 - ADMISSION OF STUDENTS

ADMISSION OF RESIDENT STUDENTS

Resident students of the School District of Auburndale shall be eligible to participate in all district education programs offered as required by law.

The Board may choose not to allow the admission of a resident student during the term of his/her expulsion from another school district. When making a decision regarding the admission of such a student, the Board shall review a copy of the expulsion findings and order, the reasons for the student’s expulsion, and the length of the term of expulsion. This information shall be requested from the student’s previous school district. Should a student under expulsion or involved in expulsion proceedings from another school district enroll and attend classes prior to the Board’s knowledge of the expulsion or an impending expulsion, the student may be removed from attendance until such time that the Board can make a decision on acceptance of the student’s attendance based on information acquired.

ADMISSION OF NONRESIDENT STUDENTS

Nonresident students may attend schools in the School District of Auburndale on a tuition basis, or under open enrollment with the approval of the Board. Admission may be granted under the following conditions:

(1) such admission does not adversely affect the program opportunities for resident students;
(2) such admission is within limits of the building, availability of staff and predetermined class sizes; and
(3) the nonresident student meets the District’s entrance requirements.

The Board will honor the decision made by any other school district and not allow the admission of a nonresident student during the term of his/her expulsion from another school district. The Board shall request and review a copy of the expulsion findings and order, the reasons for the student’s expulsion and the length of the term of expulsion. This information shall be requested from the student’s previous school district.

Except students attending under open enrollment, the Board shall make a written agreement with a nonresident student’s parent(s) guardian for the payment of tuition. Tuition may be waived for reasons authorized by law. Transportation of nonresident students is the responsibility of the parent(s)/guardian, except as otherwise specifically provided.
