School District of Auburndale

361.12 - TEXTBOOK PURCHASING

The School District of Auburndale recognizes the importance of providing the most appropriate textbooks to support student learning and the district curriculum. Textbooks and textbook series are very important tools in education. Series vary in student approach, technique, how skills are taught, vocabulary, etc. Selection of the best textbooks are a necessity for a sequential, continuous, coordinated, effective, and strong curriculum.

All textbook series will be selected in compliance with the established written student curriculum. Selection will be made on the effectiveness that the series will have on the entire K-12 curriculum and not be confusing to students as they progress from one level to another. All textbook series selection progress shall be presented to the Curriculum Advisory Committee for consideration and a Committee recommendation for approval must be presented to the Board prior to any purchase.

All textbooks series will be examined annually by the teaching staff and school administration for effectiveness. Replacement of each textbook series and textbooks will be purchased as properly approved or on the following authorized cycle with proper approval.
