School District of Auburndale

342.5 - PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT - TITLE I

The School District of Auburndale receives federal Title I funds and is required by the "No Child Left Behind Act of 2001" (NCLB) to jointly develop with, and distribute to, parents of children participating in Title I programs, a written parental involvement policy. To meet the requirements under the NCLB, the School District shall:

1. hold at least one annual meeting for Title I parents;

2. hold special events during the school year to build the capacity for parent involvement;

3. involve parents in an ongoing manner in the planning, review and improvement of Title I programs;

4. provide Title I parents with information about programs, a description and explanation of the curriculum, forms of academic assessment and, if requested, provide opportunities for regular meetings to discuss the education of their children;

5. develop a school-parent compact that outlines the responsibilities of each party for improved student academic achievement.
