SCHOOL DISTRICT OF AUBURNDALE

SPECIAL BOARD MEETING

TUESDAY, MAY 15, 2012

 

 

The meeting was called to order by President Cheri Dimick at 7:01 p.m. in the District Office Meeting Room in the Elementary School. The President read the Compliance with the Open Meeting Law and Statutory Notices.

 

Members present were: Douglas Reding, Karmin Bolder, Cheri Dimick and Marleen Knutson.

 

Marleen Knutson moved, Douglas Reding seconded, to declare the meeting legal. Motion carried.

 

Recognition of the public who wish to comment to the Board – None.

 

Marleen Knutson moved, Karmin Bolder seconded, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

 

President Cheri Dimick read the guidelines that would be followed during the interviews and selection process.

 

The Board reviewed written responses to two questions submitted by Wayne Meyer, Darren Rachu and Jeremiah Smith who are candidates interested in filling the board member vacancy.

 

The Board asked questions to the three candidates alternating as to who would give the first response. Members had a chance to ask more specific questions and to reflect on the answers from the candidates.

 

A ballot vote was held with Wayne Meyer receiving two votes and Darren Rachu and Jeremiah Smith each receiving one vote. A coin was tossed to break the tie between Rachu and Smith with Smith moving on to the next ballot vote.

 

A second ballot vote was held with Wayne Meyer receiving three votes and Jeremiah Smith receiving one vote. An invitation was extended to Wayne Meyer to serve on the Board of Education until April 2013.

 

Cheri Dimick adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
