Early admission to kindergarten shall be according to the following guidelines:
1. Application must be made by the parent or guardian to the elementary school principal by April 1st of the year in which entrance is requested.
2. A personal interview with the Elementary Principal and the parent or guardian will be held to determine the reason for requesting entrance prior to legal age.
3. The child will be expected to attend “Child Development Days.”
4. An individual evaluation of the child’s potential will be conducted by a district school psychologist.
5. For a child to be considered for early admission to kindergarten, the child must be formally evaluated and found to be advanced in the full range of abilities and needs including social, emotional, physical, and mental maturity. It must be determined that an early admission would be in the best interest of the student for future success in the school program.
6. A conference will be held within one month with the parents or guardians after the evaluation has been completed to consider the appropriateness of the early entrance to kindergarten.
7. The Superintendent has the final authority in the approval of an early admission to kindergarten.
