Wellness and Farm-to-School meeting minutes
Minutes of March 20, 2012 meeting
Time: 3:20 p.m.
Members Present: Karmin Bolder – Parent/School Board representative, Jan Pelot - Parent , Kelly Soppe – Health Care Coordinator, Aaron Engel – Principal, Dawn Urban – Teacher, Krisitie Rauter – Wood County, Mark Cournoyer – Teacher, Kelly Drevlow – Teacher, Sharon Eckes – Food Service, Peggy Richardson – Food Service, Charles Payant

M. Cournoyer will be purchasing used fencing that will be placed around the orchard located on the North side of the High School football field. The cost of the fence is in the Farm to School grant budget.

There are 15 vendors showing at the Food Fair. The Food Fair will be going on simultaneously with the FFA Pancake Feed.

If funds are available M. Cournoyer would like to purchase a chest style freezer for his classroom.

The District has received the entire grant ($40,485.00). To date $25,830.00 of the grant has been spent.

The District will be reimbursed by Wood County for travel expenses by M. Cournoyer. The travel expenses were for farm-to-school related training.

$5,000 is budgeted for the walk-in refrigerator/freezer. There is also an approved budget for trees and bushes for the orchard.

At the September Wellness meeting expenditures will be reviewed and it will be determined what the balance of the grant will be spent on.

The new Wellness Policy created by Wood County with the help of DaNita Carlson will be emailed to the group members. It was agreed that the policy should be review by the Wellness group and suggestions should be emailed back prior to the next meeting.

K. Rauter said that she has tools and could help guide the group with developing goals for next school year.

The group discussed commodity foods received from the USDA. There are changes coming to the commodities program that will provide for better food but will also impact how much is offered in the way of commodities.
