The School District of Auburndale may issue a high school diploma to a veteran upon written request and that individual veteran satisfying State of Wisconsin requirements.
In accordance to 2001 Wisconsin Act 98, which became effective May 9, 2002, the Auburndale School Board has the authority to award high school diplomas to veterans under the following conditions, even though they do not meet statutory high school graduation requirements or the district's high school graduation policy:
(1) The School Board may award a diploma to a person who meets all of the following requirements:
Is at least 65 years old.
Attended high school in the school district or attended high school in Wisconsin and resides in the school district.
Left high school before receiving a high school diploma to join the U.S. armed forces during a war period (including, among others, World War II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam War and Persian Gulf War).
Served on active duty under honorable conditions in the U.S. armed forces or in forces incorporated as part of the U.S. armed forces.
(2) The School Board may award, upon request, a high school diploma to a person who has died, but who, before death, satisfied the conditions described in (1) above.
(3) The School Board may award a high school diploma to a person who already received a high school equivalency diploma after serving on active duty, if the person meets the other conditions described in (1) above.
