To assure that each child educated in the Auburndale Public Schools is exposed to a body of knowledge that will assist them in their life long learning, the Auburndale School Board adopts the following minimum standards by which a student shall meet the criteria for a high school diploma.
I. Credit and Core Class Requirements: All students will be required to complete a minimum number of core curriculum classes as designated in the Auburndale Student Handbook.
A. 1 credit is defined as an approved class which is offered 5 days for 2 semesters. (1/2 credit = class meeting 5 days per week for 1 semester).
B. Students identified as having been appropriately staffed into a special education program will have individual I.E.P.'s designed to incorporate as many requirements as deemed appropriate for their placement.
C. Class Requirements
1. enrolled in a minimum of seven classes per semester
2. four years of English
3. three years of math
4. three years of science
5. three years of social studies
6. 1.5 credits of physical education which must include physical education 9, 10, and 11
7. .5 credit in health II
8. .5 credit in fine arts (art, band, choir, or foreign language)
9. .5 credit in keyboarding
10. .5 credit in technical arts (business, technical education, agriculture, family consumer
education, or computer science)
11. additional 8.5 credits in any area
12. must earn a minimum of 25 credits for graduation
II. Class Scheduling
A. All student scheduling will be with the assistance of the high school guidance counselor.
B. Students may file an appeal to modify their personal curriculum. The appeal to modify existing school requirements would require the approval of the high school principal and the instructor or instructors of the classes in which the student requested to enroll. While school district required class criterion may be modified, at no time will any request be approved that would not be in accordance with State of Wisconsin graduation requirements.
